Voting Disallowed Our log shows that you have voted already. There is no need to vote again. |
Users of WebTV or AOL can get this message even if they did not vote in the past 24 hours. The full technical explanation is lengthy. Here is the short version: Cisco and other vendors of Internet routing equipment are currently addressing the problem of 'mega-proxies' utilized by WebTV and AOL. A 'mega-proxy' involves thousands of users running on the same IP (Internet Protocol) address. Chef2Chef utilizes this IP address to identify a voter. Our server log shows that 0.17% of our visitors use WebTV while 1.35% use the AOL supplied browser. |
| AOL Users
Go out and get the original version of either Explorer or Navigator and do not to use the altered versions that AOL supplies. In essence, you log on to AOL, minimize AOL and the fire up the Explorer or Navigator. That should solve the problem. | WebTV Users
The only solution is to sign up with an independent ISP that will assign you a single IP number each time you log on. In many instances that may not be practical and the use of a regular computer is the only alternative. | Network Users
A small office and some homes may run multiple computers in a local network, sharing a single modem or router. That typically equates to a single IP address. Thus only one computer in that network can vote during any 24 hour period. |
