2. "Dragon of the Month" Crescent Dragonwagon
_________________________________________________

Called "Alice Waters of the Ozarks" Crescent Dragonwagon has the honor of being Workman Publishing's first cookbook author. This self-named, flower child from Hastings-On-Hudson, New York arrived in Eureka Springs, Arkansas in the early 70’s and opened its first Bed and Breakfast in 1981. In addition to her running of the historic inn, creating cookbooks, and writing for numerous national magazines, Crescent is an award winning author of over 35 children’s books. She has served her "Nouveau Zarks" cuisine to President Bill Clinton and his family.

Her book DAIRY HOLLOW HOUSE SOUP & BREAD BOOK was nominated for a James Beard Award for Best Americana Cookbook.

Crescent and her husband Ned Shank closed the Inn in 1998 and have converted it into the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow. The only writers colony in the world where culinary writing is considered a legitimate writing genre, and they are equipped (kitchens etc.) to handle these writers. Crescent Dragonwagon is looking for chef-writers to apply for the Tyson Fellowship, an all expense paid stay at the WCDH.

To find out more about this unbelievable opportunity, to visit her page, view her book and recipes, and get links to her own web site and the WCDH, go to http://topchefs.chef2chef.net/recipes/crescent/index.shtml

3. Culinary Excellence Awards
_________________________________________________

We don't care about glitzy appearance or even functionality. We scour the Internet for culinary sites that offer unique ideas, great recipes and valuable tips. When we do find a site that offers great culinary content, we add it to our favorites. When we find a true *GEM*, we give it the Culinary Excellence Award. Only 12 of 600 sites we reviewed received it. Look for our picks at http://chef2chef.net/links/favorites.htm

If you know of a great site we missed please write to David Nelson.
