Wine School Announces Wine Programs

by Keith Wallace

Philadelphia, PA

One of the most popular wine schools in America just got bigger. Just months after announcing its new building, The Wine School of Philadelphia is unveiling an expanded curriculum for the fall semester, along with a long list of weekly wine tasting classes.

The school’s wine certification programs are geared to become the most comprehensive in the nation, for both wine consumers and professionals. The Wine Basics program focuses on sensory evaluation, giving students a big advantage over most wine enthusiasts. The Advanced Wine program, which is beginning this month, is more classically designed, with a focus on wine regions and food pairing: all the tools needed to either work or play in the world of wine.

For those whom are looking for less of a commitment, the school offers weekly wine tasting classes.

As important as the curriculum is the staff. One of the best in the country, it was hand-picked from within both the wine industry and academia. When most wine education programs are staffed with “weekend warriors” such a commitment to excellence is unheard of outside of the traditional four-year university programs.

Then there is price. The Wine School of Philadelphia offers a very good value to its students. It programs and classes uniformly cost about a third of any competing program. This is in large part due to the school’s mission to draw a larger segment of the American population into the wine world.

The smart staff, a comprehensive agenda, excellent pricing, and a hip “zero snobbery” style, are all reasons for the school’s recent growth.
