Truffles, Truffles Everywhere
Gurnee, IL -- Woodland Foods announces the addition of a line of jarred truffles under their new D’Allasandro Gold label. With two new truffle oils and 6 new truffle items, Woodland Foods is positioned to shed some light on the dark mystery surrounding this sublime tuber.
Few other foods are as enshrouded in mystery as the elusive truffle – the bumpy little knob known as the gem of the earth. Truffles are the treasured tubers that grow among the roots of hardwood trees in Italy and France. They are so rare and mysterious that the people who search for them, the tartufaios, begin their search at twilight, so as to not reveal their best gathering spots.
“We are proud to be introducing the D’Allasandro Gold label truffles to gastronomes everywhere, “announced David Moore, President and Founder of Woodland Foods. Moore continues, “Truffles are a special luxury, so we wanted to ensure that our truffle products are worthy of indulgence.” To that end, Woodland Foods has contracted with a small, family-owned producer in France to bring you premier cuisson (first boiling) European truffles packed in truffle-infused oil. Premier cuisson ensures that the truffles are cooked only once when processing them. This allows for the best preservation of the flavor and aroma of the truffles.
The D’Allasandro Gold label truffle line consists of eight products: White Truffle Oil, Black Truffle Oil, Black Sliced Summer Truffles, Black Summer Truffle Peelings, Black Sliced Winter Truffles, White Sliced Winter Truffles, White Sliced Spring Truffles and White Sand Truffles, which grow in the arid African deserts. With such an extensive line, Woodland Foods has a truffle for every need and every price range.
The D’Allasandro Gold truffle line joins the hundreds of other gourmet ingredients available from Woodland Foods. Incorporated in 1989, Woodland Foods operates out of a 55,000 square foot facility in the northern Chicago suburb of Gurnee, Illinois. There, the food arrives in container loads from all over the world – sun dried tomatoes from Turkey, macadamia nuts from Australia, vanilla beans from Tahiti, and beans from Peru. Woodland’s facility contains a processing plant which cleans, air classifies, de-stones and metal-detects products before their release to customers. There is also an in-house microbial laboratory for testing the products when they arrive at Woodland Foods. Woodland Foods has a Gold ranking from independent auditor, Silliker, is HACCP certified, and is Kosher supervised by Kof-K. Woodland is also USDA certified as an organic handler.
