Promotions Announced at Johnson & Wales University
New Roles Created in University Office of Culinary Education
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — August 18, 2005 — The College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University announces two promotions: Jeanette Scarcella has been named Executive Administrator of the University Office of Culinary Education, and Gill Stansfield has been named Executive Director of Culinary Purchasing.
A Johnson & Wales veteran, Scarcella joined the University in 1989, serving as an Executive Assistant assisting senior executives. In 2002, she moved over to the College of Culinary Arts as Executive Assistant to the dean. With the establishment in 2004 of the University Office of Culinary Education, the activities and responsibilities within the office accelerated; her new title of Executive Administrator reflects the broadening of Scarcella’s duties. Among her responsibilities will be to manage corporate relationships; manage communications between pertinent departments; manage University Office of Culinary Education Team activities; develop key presentation material for the University Dean; and serve as liaison for industry guests, alumni, parents and students.
Stansfield joined the University in 1996, and held previous positions as a chef instructor and manager of the Hospitality Dining Center. He took on the role of Director of Storeroom Operations in 2002, overseeing all purchasing for the College at the Providence Campus, including food and smallwares, as well as the day-to-day operations of the storeroom. Stanfield’s new responsibilities as Executive Director of Culinary Purchasing will meet these need for system-wide leadership in culinary purchasing. He will be charged with the building of a comprehensive purchasing program that assures quality and product consistency combined with positive budgetary impact using system-wide bargaining power.
