by Brian T. Koning

New Book on Personal Cheffing, Become a Personal Chef; an Introduction to the Industry

Carmel, Indiana – April 5, 2004 – What does a marketing professional with 17 years experience and a passion for cooking do when he loses his job? He launches a successful personal chef business and writes the very first book on the personal chef industry.

“Become a Personal Chef; an Introduction to the Industry” by Brian T. Koning is full of practical information about the relatively new and emerging personal chef industry. Released in April, 2004, this book is ideal for anyone who loves to cook and may be looking for an affordable home-based business opportunity. Whether you are a professionally trained chef or a self-taught cook, you will learn what you will need to invest in the way of time, talents and money.

Just weeks after launching his personal chef business in February of 2001, Brian Koning, a.k.a. "Doctor Dinner", was cooking full-time for more than a dozen clients.

He attributes his success to working more than 15 years in marketing, advertising and sales. After reading postings on Internet forums from personal chefs who were struggling with their businesses due to lack of marketing and business experience, Brian felt compelled to share his expertise in these areas through his book and a series of personal chef marketing and business seminars to begin in May of 2004.

The book covers the basics from forming your business, joining a personal chef association, and training to marketing, sales and customer service. He even had cooperation and input from the three personal chef associations including the United States Personal Chef Association, Personal Chefs Network and the American Personal Chef Association.

Become a Personal Chef; an Introduction to the Industry is currently available through the publisher, Author House at www.authorhouse.com and on www.personalchefmarketing.com, the author’s website. It will be available to order through Barnes and Noble and Amazon.Com by the end of April.

Brian has put together an extensive list of resources for cookware, chefs clothing, food safety, freezer recipes and more. In addition to his own advice, Brian includes a chapter filled with advice from more than twenty personal chefs from the United States and Canada. For dessert, Brian serves up more than fifty recipes, favorites of his clients.

Besides cooking for his clients, Brian appears frequently on Indianapolis-area television news programs, writes a monthly magazine column and speaks to groups about meal planning and healthy eating. He recently launched Personal Chef Marketing, a consulting firm that provides marketing services to personal chefs and the personal chef industry. Brian is a native of Lafayette, Indiana and a 1986 graduate of Purdue University where he received his B.A. in Communication. He now resides in Carmel, Indiana with wife Doreen and his children Kaitlin, Karli and Kyler.
