For Travelers Who Love To Cook and Cooks Who Love to Travel
Today¡¦s readers want more out of a travel book than just travel and more out of a cookbook than just recipes. Mystical Places and Marvelous Meals: A Travel Cookbook, takes readers on a series of journeys annotated with recipes. We search for legendary beasts, visit ancient settlements and attempt to dispel long-held travel myths while savoring local delicacies.
Most travel books take us to interesting places where surroundings provide a change of scenery. But there are destinations on the planet that allow us to escape into another dimension¡Xplaces of legend and magic where the rules of logic no longer apply. Accompany us on a quest for fantastic creatures, resurrected saints and Greek mythology. Journey through a time tunnel devoid of science-fiction contraptions into the ancient world. Experience lifestyles of past millennia and survey ruins of the Greek, Roman, and Irish past.
„X Visit little known funerary structures almost 1,900 years older than the Egyptian pyramids.
„X Enter a chapel lined with the skulls and bones of five thousand monks.
We return to the present in an attempt to separate fact from travel fiction.
„X Are Parisians really rude?
„X Does everyone eat well in Italy?
„X Is roadside food a hardship to endure on the way to a destination?
„X Do all bullfights mean blood and gore?
Throughout the book we remain firmly rooted in reality by a mundane quest for food. Readers can join in our journeys with seventy-five recipes inspired by our travels.
Adults who are curious about the world and who enjoy entertaining tales are the target audience. Armchair and veteran travelers alike who want to learn without delving into serious textbooks will gain knowledge of history, geography, gastronomy, folklore, cross-cultural psychology, foreign languages, architecture, mythology, cultural anthropology, archaeology and art.
