Local Chef to be Guest of U.S. Agricultural Trade Office Food Show in Dubai, U.A.E.)
Fort Wayne, IN - September 27, 2003 - Dan Turkette, Executive Chef of The Great American Spice Company will be traveling to the Persian Gulf next month as a guest chef of the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office which is conducting an international food show in Dubai, a coastal city located in the United Arab Emirates.
"We had planned to participate in the show by displaying our product and brochures" Turkette said. "The Indiana Department of Commerce Office of International Trade had made us aware of the event. When the assistant director of the American Consulate General's office in Dubai noticed my credential's, they contacted me about being their guest for a week". During
the weeklong stay, Turkette will be holding daily cooking shows preparing American dishes, which highlight the company's products. The event will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel Dubai from September 7th through the 10th.
The U.A.E., situated on the northern end of Saudi Arabia on the Persian Gulf had imports in 2002 of 34.9 billion. Among them food products were a major import, including spices.
The United Arab Emirates participated with the international coalition against Iraq during the Persian Gulf War.
