NO “FOODIES” ALLOWED
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — June 23, 2005 — For those who approach food and cooking with a passion that transcends celebrity, fluff, and trendiness, there is a new voice in the food world.
Gastronomic Meditations™ is the monthly online magazine created to feed the mind and nourish the soul in an exploration of the palate. Focused on a very personal, intimate approach to food, the magazine offers a journey of the senses, encompassing food philosophy, cooking technique, wine adventures, and candid perspectives from some of the world’s leading chefs.
The first issue of Gastronomic Meditations™ was published in February 2005, and in just a few short months the magazine has won the attention of readers from more than seventy countries around the globe, from passionate amateur cooks to industry professionals.
Founder and Editor-in-Chief Jennifer L. Iannolo, an industry veteran, longed for a place where she could discuss food from her point of view — as a sensualist and food philosopher:
I cared less about which chef opened the latest trendy restaurant, and more about why he cooks in the first place. I also wanted to explore culinary history, and ruminate on ideas about food’s effect on the soul, but was unable to find an appropriate venue for it. An idea was born. Now, we have some of the most lauded people in the industry on our mailing list. Our content is not for the groupie “foodie” mentality, but for the passionate gastronome.
With contributors like award-winning winemaker Gina Gallo, leading wine blogger Alder Yarrow (creator of www.Vinography.com), and chef/author Donna Zotter, the magazine has evolved into a place where passionate cooks can come to share in the delights of gastronomy. Each month the GM Test Kitchen™ offers original recipes that are created with aromas and flavor platforms in mind, providing a veritable journey of the senses — even in the cooking process. Pages are accented with the stunning food photography of Kelly Cline, resulting in a sublime experience for anyone who is a sensualist at heart.
The magazine’s tone is soulful yet lighthearted, its staff intensely passionate, and its content thought-provoking. In the months to come, there will be forums and blogs where kindred spirits can share their own perspectives. For food sensualists, there is at last a place to call “home.” www.gastronomicmeditations.com.
