The Queens Galley Guide to Stone Soup

by Diane Reeder

The Queens Galley, a not for profit 501 ( c) 3 organization, is requesting your assistance. The NY based national charity is assembling recipes for a cookbook titled The Queens Galley Guide to Stone Soup. The title is inspired by the childrens tale of Stone Soup. The collection is part of the Queens Galley's continued effort to bring awareness, education, relief and prevention of food insecurity for seniors and families with children at risk.

The cook book will contain recipes from adults and children, chefs and kitchen novices, notable members of public office and media. Already the organization has been honored with submissions from chef instructors from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, representatives from the New York Legislature and children from schools across the Unites States.

The Queens Galley Guide to Stone Soup will be available to the public for a $25 donation in time for the winter holidays. This price point pays for the printing of 2 books plus an additional donation toward the operation costs of the charity's workshops. For every book purchased, one will be given away to a family or a senior at risk of food insecurity who has taken part in one of the free workshops. The Queens Galley programs are designed to teach people tools and skills to stretch a food dollar further; the cookbook will provide inspiration to use those new tools creatively.

The Queens Galley asks that you take a moment to recall a memorable meal you have made or that someone you know has made for you and perhaps pass along the recipe to include in The Queens Galley Guide to Stone Soup. Please consider joining the effort to help make America better one meal at a time.

Submissions should be e mailed by May 25, 2005 to stonesoup@thequeensgalley.org or mailed to The Queens Galley 319 Wall Street, Kingston NY 12401.
With all submissions please remember to include your name, city and state for publication and contact information for follow up inquiries if necessary.
