(Davao City, Philippines) – Like the Food Network’s iconic “Iron Chef,” the Davao Tourism Association’s 5th Mindanao Culinary Festival culinary competition pits big names in Mindanao cuisine against each other in a timed race to best please judges’ palates utilizing the content of a mystery basket. On Sept. 9 - 11, 2005 watch as Mindanao’s top chefs square off in a culinary showdown.
This year, the Festival will celebrate the heritage, the flavors, the rituals and the region’s produce in a weekend of experiences showcasing authentic Mindanao and East ASEAN countries cuisine.
On the spotlight this year are the delectable food showcases from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines - featuring Mindanao tribal cuisine. The MCF competition will carry the theme, “A Fusion of Mindanao and East ASEAN Flavors” challenging the skills of professional chefs from different hotels and restaurant from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines to create their own interpretation of authentic South East Asian cuisine.
The Festival will also highlight competitions under the student categories and will engage participants in a highly competitive environment under the eyes of judges who are esteemed industry experts.
Following the overwhelming success of last year's festival, the 5th Mindanao Culinary Festival back-to-back with the 2nd International Hotel, Restaurant & Hotel Expo will occupy the entire NCCC Convention Center, Davao City for the first time on September 9 to 11 2005 with an increased number of exhibitors already secured.
The best of Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines’ food and hospitality industry traders, suppliers and buyers will be on show with all of the national and regional groups. There will also be an increased international presence at this year's festival offering new products from the East ASEAN region. The cream of the industry will be on display, including many producers who have not been seen on an international scale before.
The 2nd International Hotel, Restaurant and Home Expo encompasses specialized product specific shows: Food, Beverages, Bakery, Technology, Styles, Packaging, Healthy Choices, Asian cuisine, Meat & Poultry & the new products showcase, Fresh Ideas - each catering to a specific sector of the food and hospitality industry.
Expect to meet thousands of potential buyers and attendees coming from the different areas of food and hospitality trade from all over the Philippines and from other countries as well.
