Michitsch Named Chef Educator of the Year
ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA., August 1, 2005-- Timothy Michitsch, a chef-instructor of the culinary and pastry arts program at Lorain County Joint Vocational School (JVS) in Oberlin, Ohio, received the American Culinary Federation Inc. (ACF) Chef Educator of the Year Award for 2005 at the ACF National Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
The ACF National Educator of the Year Award pays tribute to an active culinary educator whose knowledge, skills and expertise have given culinary students the leadership and guidance for the future. This year’s Chef Educator of the Year Award was determined by a lecture and cook-off in which four chefs from different regions of the nation competed for the title.
Timothy Michitsch, an ACF certified executive chef (CEC) and culinary educator (CCE), is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and received the 2005 ACF Akron-Canton Chapter Chef of the Year Award. He has coached more than 60 culinary student teams over his career and received a gold and silver medal in the Hot-Food Competition in Cleveland in 2003 and 2004, respectively, and placed second in the National Professional Knowledge Bowl Competition in both years.
