(MARCH 22, 2004)
The metro wine club, Friends of the Vine Wine Club, is hosting Atlantaıs 2nd Annual Zinfandel Festival, a wine tasting featuring over 120 Zinfandel wines--Americaıs most famous wine grape--and food from over a dozen metro-area restaurants and food markets.
The 2nd Annual Zinfandel Tasting goes from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday, April 26, 2004, in the Rivermont Country Club, 3130 Rivermont Parkway, in the north Atlanta suburban city of Alpharetta, GA. Individual admission is $30.00 for members and $40.00 for non-members, said Friends of the Vine President and Founder Richard P. Czerwinski of Marietta. Reservations may be made by telephoning (678) 646-0369.
The charity benefits of the Zinfandel tasting are the Atlanta Food Bank and the Days of Taste Childrenıs Nutritional Program sponsored by the American Institute of Wine and Food, he said.
³We chose a Zinfandel wine program because Zinfandels exude so much variety and a whole gamut of wine styles,² Czerwinski explained. ³Zinz, as they are called, range from bold, complex, two-fisted wines that are deep and red to lighter and more juicy styles. Our Zinfandel Festival is a scaled-down version of San Franciscoıs world-famous Zinfandel Area Producers association wine fest.²
Participating restaurants include Duluthıs Napa Valley Market and Trattoria, Buckheadıs Cafe 22 Tango, Dominickıs in Norcross, Famous Daveıs BBQ in Alpharetta, Brio Tuscan Grille in Perimeter Mall, Merlot Restaurant in Duluth and Sydneyıs Steak House in Roswell. Other tables will be set-up by chefs from the Black Culinary Alliance and by chefs from the Chicagoıs Steaks, Seafood and Pasta Restaurants.
Additionally, dıVines Wine Bar in Dunwoody is offering desserts. Food stores Whole Foods Market and Fresh Market, Inc., are offering fruits, cheese and breads while Panera Bread will have a table offering their many bread varieties.
