THE ARTISANAL CHEESE CENTER TEAMS WITH SINGING CHEF TO PRESENT “SAY CHEESE,” AN ENTERTAINING, EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY INTO THE SUMPTUOUS WORLD OF FINE CHEESES
NEW YORK (March 30, 2004) -- In a move to bring the enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of fine cheeses to a wider audience, Terrance Brennan of the Artisanal Cheese Center, and singing chef Jackie Gordon of Divalicious, Inc., are presenting “Say Cheese: A tongue-titillating tasting of artisanal cheeses and wines, and the songs they inspire.” Say Cheese, a multi-sensory, multi-media, educational and highly entertaining event, is debuting Wednesday, April 28th at 7:30 p.m. at The West Bank Café – Laurie Beechman Theater, 407 W. 42nd Street, Manhattan Plaza. Tickets cost $60 (price includes cheese and wine samples and accompaniments), and are available through Ticket Central, www.ticketcentral.org.
“In the past five years, the variety of fine cheeses available at cheese stores, specialty food shops and online has increased tenfold, and choosing can be challenging for consumers facing a burgeoning selection of hundreds of cheeses,” said Mr. Brennan. “People will leave this show armed with a multi-sensory experience and knowledge of what makes artisan cheeses stand out from the rest.”
Say Cheese Event
During Say Cheese, consumers will learn about cheese history and culture while tasting a selection of eight of the finest artisan cheeses in the world from France, Portugal, Italy, Great Britain, Holland, and Spain. The cheeses will be paired with complementing Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, and presented with a song that enhances the experience. For example, the Bayley Hazen Blue Cheese from Jasper Hill Farms will be introduced with the song “Milk Cow Blues.”
“Whenever you are exposed to information in a fun, interactive way, the experience stays with you,” said Ms. Gordon. “For beginners, Say Cheese is the first step in learning about cheese; for enthusiasts, it’s an opportunity to add new tastes to their repertoire; and for true connoisseurs, it’s an event that pays homage to what they’ve known all along.”
Following its opening night, Say Cheese will be playing at the West Bank Café – Laurie Beechman Theater on the following dates:
April 29th
May 5th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th
June 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 11th.
All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
