Women Chefs & Restaurateurs To Honor Traditions At National Conference in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct 22, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The professional association of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs will hold its 2004 National Conference, Honoring Our Traditions: Cultivating Our Careers, November 6-8 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
Internationally acclaimed chef and restaurateur Nora Pouillon of Washington, DC will deliver the opening keynote address for the conference on Sunday, Nov. 7 entitled, Women Cultivating a Sustainable Future. A panel discussion will follow exploring Taking Your Restaurant Toward Sustainability.
Husband-and-wife author team Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page of New York City will deliver the second keynote address on Monday, Nov. 8 entitled, ENERGIZE! Yourself, Your Career and Your Life in the Restaurant Business.
Kathy Cary, chef and owner of the popular Lilly's and La Peche restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky is the Honorary Chair for this year's conference. The opening session will be followed by two days of master classes presented by some of the culinary and beverage elite from the US and abroad:

Three optional culinary tours will be offered on Saturday, November 6. They include: the Kentucky Bison Company at Woodland Farm, Woodford Reserve Distillery and a Louisville Urban Legends tour that includes Lynn's Paradise Cafe, Shuckman's Spoonfish caviar & smoked fish production facility; Grateful Greens, an urban hydroponics greenhouse that specializes in leafy greens and herbs; Churchill Downs and a walking tour of historic Main Street.
In addition to the tours and master classes, the Women Who Inspire Gala Dinner and Awards will be held on Sunday, November 7 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel. Seven awards will be presented, recognizing excellence in the kitchen, front-of-house, baking and pastry arts, community service, beverage profession, growing or producing, and for lifetime achievement. The Gala Dinner will be prepared by four well known southern chefs: Kathy Cary, Louisville; Anne Kearney, New Orleans; Anne Quatrano, Atlanta and Susan Spicer, New Orleans. The four-course meal will be preceded by a reception at 6:30 p.m. and followed by a dessert reception. Tickets are $125, all inclusive. A limited number of tickets are available to the public.
The conference will conclude with a reception in the early evening of Monday, November 8.
