CHEFS & CULINARY STUDENTS ENTER “TASTE OF SPAIN” RECIPE CONTEST

Cash Prizes for Inventive Dishes Using Traditional Ingredients from Spain

NEW YORK, NY, November 3, 2004 --- Creative chefs and culinary students are invited to bring the vibrant flavors of Spain alive in a recipe contest announced today by Foods from Spain.

Choosing among an array of ingredients for which Spain is famous --- from saffron and paprika to Serrano ham and native cheeses – entries will highlight the variety of inventive recipes these products can inspire, both savory and sweet.

Winners will not only get a taste of success, they’ll take home cash prizes totaling $5,000. Four winning categories include First and Runner-Up divisions for professionals and students. Judging criteria cover taste, creativity and use of specified Spanish products in each recipe.

The contest is open to professional chefs and cooks working in the food industry, as well as students enrolled in professional culinary schools. Entrants must be 18 years or older by the date of the contest entry deadline, and also must be legal residents of the United States.

The Taste of Spain contest is sponsored by Foods from Spain, part of the Trade Commission of Spain, to promote the increased use of, and familiarity with, food products imported from Spain.

Contest entries may be submitted online only. For official rules, entry forms, a complete list of products required and further information, visit www.tasteofspaincontest.com or call 1.877.COOK2WIN (1.877.266.5294). The deadline for entries is 12:00 midnight, EST, January 5, 2005.
