Revolution Tea Brings Jobs Home from Asia

PHOENIX, January 19, 2005 – Revolution Tea, creator of the T-Box Revolution™ single serving box, TPot Revolution™ Retail Tin and the newly launched all natural ready to drink White-T™, announces its decision to bring manufacturing and jobs back home. The gourmet tea company will move its manufacturing and packaging operations from Asia to Arizona, bucking the growing trend among U.S. companies to use inexpensive overseas labor and manufacturing.

In October 2004, Revolution Tea opened the new facility in Phoenix, which includes 35,000 square feet for manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and administration. The facility will be fully operational January 1, 2005 and will employ 40 full-time employees with a projected annual production output of 40 million tea bags per year.

“Bringing all the manufacturing components together under one roof will ensure the freshest product, a focus on quality control, and the flexibility we need to produce a greater variety of products and limitededition teas while providing more good jobs for our country,” said Revolution Tea President David Watson. “Now, we can be as proud of our workforce as we are of our product.”

Revolution Tea has been a leading force for innovation since its inception when founder and CEO Larry DeAngelis revolutionized the tea industry with a unique brewing system for a see-through full-leaf tea bag, called the Infuser Bag, which replicates the process used in tea balls and teapots - full steeping of the loose-leaf tea, fruits, herbs, spices and natural flavorings to bring out the best possible flavor. He then took his vision a step further by packaging the Infuser Bags in distinct individual small tea boxes offering the easy-to-use convenience of single-serving hot tea. Watson, co-founder of the pre-eminent Philosophy® line of health and wellness cosmetic products and former President of BioMedic® skin care company, which was sold to L’Oreal in 2001, also saw a future in the tea-leaves and acquired a majority share of Revolution Tea in that same year. His plan to streamline the production and open up new distribution channels for the increasing range of new and innovative products is now well underway with the new manufacturing facility.
