Graduates will be prepared to assume entry-level positions as prep cooks, line cooks, assistant food service managers, and assistant restaurant managers. This program is specially designed for the person who plans a successful food service career, and/or plans to open a restaurant, catering service, or other food service establishment. Months of study are crowned by a 360-hour externship in which students gain real, on-the-job experience working in a restaurant or food-related business.

ABOUT US


York Technical Institute's Culinary Division, "L' École de Cuisine," is offered at York Technical Institute -Lancaster Campus located at 3050 Hempland Road in Lancaster, PA. This newly renovated 52,000 square foot facility offers our students a completely new, technologically-advanced learning environment. We're conveniently located along Route 30, with easy access from Lancaster, York, Harrisburg, Baltimore and Philadelphia.

Student instruction takes place in a variety of settings:

• 4 kitchen laboratories stocked with the newest culinary technology equipment
• A 2,000 square foot demonstration kitchen with theater-style seating for 125 people
• A simulation restaurant with seating for 72 people, including a bar, service station, and computer station for orders to the kitchen
• 7 classrooms

Additionally, students can take advantage of our open computer lab with 60 workstations, a complete onsite library, student lounge and outdoor tables and chairs.


CAREER SERVICES


The YTI Career Services Department assists students and graduates with the following services:

Part-Time Employment: A Part-Time Employment Specialist will help students find a position that works with their school schedules.

Career Seminars and Professional Development: Learn to develop effective job search strategies and create written correspondence needed for obtaining employment. Examples: Creating a Resume and Cover Letter, Interview Preparation.

Externships: An externship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and apply the skills they have learned at YTI. YTI places a priority on its externship program and Externship Coordinators work to assist students in finding positions.

On and Off-Campus Interviews:
Employers make ongoing requests to see resumes and meet with qualified YTI candidates.

Career Fairs: Each year YTI holds Career Fairs at the school. It's a great way for students to meet employers and obtain career information.

Employer Presentations or Corporate Visits: This is an excellent way for students to learn more about their chosen career field and make connections.


FINANCIAL AID
